You don't know how much this cover disturbs me. Deeply, deeply, disturbs me.
Look, we live in a world where females are largely relegated to being props for men, both to sell their records and to act as dumping grounds for a whole lot of emotional baggage, gender hang-ups, and misogyny. And despite the moves we've made to more inclusive of women of all types and walks of life (including those not born as women), we have to look at bullshit like this. In 2009. The band's name is Hot Leg. I find it ironic that the body part referenced in the name is actually one of the only things covered up on this person. But seriously, a thong. An "X" on her ass. Leather chaps. On a futuristic motorcycle. And there's another motorcycle in the background, but it looks like a drawing found in a cave.… |
